Germany: Säshsische schweiz

Dresden, Germany

In other words, Saxony Switzerland though has no relation to Switzerland since it is located at the south but it does border Czech Republic. It only got its name due to its resemblance of the hilly aspects of Switzerland.
TOLD YOU SO! I was going to make it to the top one day & I did it. Of course I would not dare to boulder these rocks unlike some people... Instead took the safe route and followed the trail up to the Bastei Bridge, which has a fantastic view of the adjacent towns along with the Elbe. Thankfully, we were in luck with the weather. Beautiful sunny day, which lately seems to be rare in Dresden. It is always so gloomy and rainy, and to think London, England was known for its rainy weather. I have yet to go to London but I can not imagine it to rain more than this.

For dog lovers and owners out there, you're in luck. It is dog friendly, they have their own bar en route. & of course, given that it is Germany... there are plenty of biergarten for fellow beer drinkers. You don't have to worry, your thirst will be quenched.

Another well-known landmark in Säshsische schweiz is Festung Konigstein, a castle. It can not be Germany without a castle. However, this one is particularly different among the many castles I have seen while living here. There is a little town within the castle and located on top of a hill, you have a fantastic panoramic view of the entire townscape and the Elbe. With various people dressed up to the time period, it gives you a perspective of how it was like to live in a castle and in all honesty, the little girl inside me was jumping for joy. Also, maybe it is the Game of Thrones influence but the entire time there I was imagining how it was like during time of attack and did not help that there were numerous cannons surrounding the perimeter of the castle. As well as actually launching of cannons.

Here are some pictures of my adventure:

That is how high up we were.

Uh, when did autumn arrive? I'm not ready to say bye to summer.

Again, another awesome adventure in the books. It is best to take advantage of these activities while its still nice out. Perhaps on the next beautiful day, kayaking?
