Prague: Trdelnik

9/16/2014

Trdelnik, traditional Hungarian baked specialty where it is now adopted by Germany, Austria and Czech as their own. Often time, it is served fresh.
What is it?
Essentially, it's dough rolled on a stick that is then baked over coal burning fire and topped off with sugar and your choice of topping: cinnamon, vanilla, almonds, cocoa.
Sound familiar? I thought it was the German's knüppelteig at first sight.
I stumbled upon such a delicious delight during my venture through old town Prague. Not looking for dessert at all but I had to try it & I loved it.
